In mid October Dr. Boxrud will be attending and lecturing at the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She will be giving a lecture about the New Horizons of Oculoplastic Surgery. The lecture will focus on: 1. Peripheral Face Lifts and 2.Space Lifts. The concept of the Peripheral Face Lifts is the ability to non-invasively lift the face using fillers. “Our face ages like a deflating balloon”. By adding volume with filler we can “inflate” and lift the face. The “Space Lift” uses the same concept but uses the patient’s own fat instead of filler. Using the patients fat has some great advantages. The fat lasts longer and the adult stem cell properties within the fat promote the production of healthy skin and stem cell rejuvenation, slowing the aging process of the face. Both of these new procedures have the potential to change the way people look at surgery. Both are minimally invasive and provide lasting and beautiful results.
